Dean began his career in pest control at the Kingsbury Ordnance Plant during World War II as the superintendent for roads and grounds. Therefore, he was in charge of all pest and weed control throughout this major facility. After the war, he began using his skills in the business community and soon had a varied and extensive group of clients. Dean based his business practices on good old fashioned values like hard work, honesty, integrity, and customer satisfaction. In 1978 as he was nearing retirement, he decided to seek out someone qualified to take over his company. That is when Dean met Greg Campbell at an Indiana Pest Management Association (IPMA) meeting.
Greg Campbell had already worked in the pest control field for 7 years when he was approached by Dean. This came after first earning a degree in Entomology from Purdue University. In 1980, Hatfield retired and sold his business to Greg. Since then, the company had grown from 1 to 5 technicians. He started out small until settling into the current location in La Porte. Greg was a two-time past president, honorary member, and Hall of Fame member of the IPMA. He was also Industry Chair of the Purdue Pest Management Conference for 12 years which is held annually at Purdue University. He spent over 40 years educating and working in pest management, his true passion. Greg passed his knowledge, skills, and expertise along to his daughter, Carrie.
Carrie is the 3rd generation of Hatfield and purchased the business from her dad, Greg, in 2015. After growing up in the pest control business, Carrie graduated from Indiana University in 2012. Carrie maintains a very active role in the La Porte County communities by serving on many local boards and charities such as Leadership La Porte County, La Porte Young Professionals, Deserving Children’s Roof Sit, and Mill Creek Lions Club to name a few. Carrie is also very active in the Indiana Pest Management Association as Vice President and Purdue Pest Management Conference as Industry Chair. Carrie is also a certified technician and you can find her working out in the field as well as managing daily operations.
